Conferences and Events

The 2017 Canadian Glycomics Symposium and Immuno-oncology Workshop will take place May 10 – 12, 2017, in Banff, Alberta, Canada.

This annual Symposium is the premiere North American meeting of its kind, and will bring together nearly over 200 Canadian and international glycomics researchers, as well as students, trainees, and stakeholders in the fields of glycomics, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. The Symposium will feature presentations from notable national and international experts in carbohydrate science, as well as an open forum for young scientists to highlight their research. As in previous years, this meeting will serve as an exciting opportunity to glimpse the frontiers of knowledge and applications in the emerging fields of glycomics, with ample opportunities for professional development and networking.

Speakers for 2017 include:

  • Stefanie Barbirz (University of Potsdam) on “Highly specific binders for bacterial polysaccharides: Bacteriophage tailspike proteins as fundamental research models and valuable diagnosis tools”
  • Paul DeAngelis (University of Oklahoma) on “Glycosaminoglycan Engineering: Towards Novel Polymers and New Therapeutics”
  • Ratmir Derda (University of Alberta) on “Genetically encoded discovery of ligands for carbohydrate binding proteins and disease-specific antibodies”
