Cyclodextrins (CDs) have a cyclic and bidimensional geometry. They are excellent candidates for designing amphiphilic systems. Previously, we have show that a family of thioalkylated β-CD derivatives could form thermotropic liquid crystals. We continued to explore in this area in order to gain better understanding on the structural-property relationship of this family of compounds.
